The global shipping industry is looking for the solutions to reduce greenhouse emissions as mandated by IMO. To comply, the ship owners and operators considering various solutions, including using alternative fuels.

On October 15th, 2020,  ICS Canada invited Tony Vollmers, LNG Engineering Manager with BC Ferries to share experience his company gained through building, retrofitting and operating LNG powered vessels.

In his presentation Tony Vollmers focused on key points of technical and operational management of the dual-fuel powered vessels, including State and Class regulations, risk control, bunkering, and explored the economic benefits of operating a conventional handy size bulk carrier powered by LNG.
