Women in Shipping

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, ICS Canada held a “Women in Shipping” webinar. Mette Stenild Gron, from J. Lauritzen, was our key speaker. Mette is the Global Head of Operations at Laurizten and manages a team of 29 people. She has been in the industry for 20 years, mostly working out of Copenhagen, with some time spent overseas in Hamburg and Singapore.

Some of the major topics discussed were:

1. The challenges/benefits of being a woman in shipping
2. Challenges of operating a team during a global pandemic
3. Career advice for those interested in stepping up into managerial/leadership roles

The event turned out to be a great success – thank you to Mette for presenting and thank you to all who attended.
