Women in Mining & Women in Shipping Networking Event
On June 27th, 2019 the ICS Canada Branch hosted a joint event with Women In Mining BC (WIM BC), billed as a ‘first of its kind’ cross-industry networking opportunity to bring together women in the shipping and mining industries. The wine and cheese evening saw almost 50 attendees come together, including Ship Owners, Agents, Brokers, Cargo Charterers, Terminal Operators with women affiliated to the Mining industry. Feedback deemed the event a success, with many of the attendees confirming that they had made valuable new connections.
The Women in Mining BC is a large organisation which organises monthly seminars and socialising evets for women affiliated to the mining. Their membership includes lawyers, accountants, support staff, community relations coordinators, analysts, stockbrokers, geoscientists.
The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers is the professional body for all members of the commercial shipping industry worldwide and is the only internationally recognised professional body in the commercial maritime arena and represents shipbrokers, ship managers and agents globally.
